A diverse group of people united by a shared vision – to contribute to the sustainability of the Mediterranean Sea. Our team includes scientists and researchers, shellfish farmers, net manufacturers, and experts in local and regional development. We cover everything – from technology, biology, aquaculture to research and the impact on people and the economy.

 

Here are the organisations involved.

UNIZAG FSB

The University of Zagreb, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture (UNIZAG FSB) is Croatia’s leading scientific institution in the fields of mechanical engineering and naval architecture. It is currently implementing over 15 Horizon projects, along with numerous other internationally funded initiatives. The AquaBioNets project will be carried out by a highly skilled and motivated research team from the Chair of Marine Engineering.

ANETEL

Larnaca District Development Agency (ANETEL) supports public and private stakeholders in accessing European resources, joining EU programs, and managing national and communal funds. It also provides technical support in education, quality of life, and socio-economic development. Committed to transparency and efficiency, ANETEL strives to be a modern, skilled, and financially independent organization. Its work is rooted in innovation, continuous staff training, technology integration, and strong collaboration with citizens and institutions to promote social values and sustainable development.

MUSOL

Foundation MUSOL is a non-governmental organization dedicated to promoting sustainable development and strengthening regional and local governments, as well as civil society, in Europe, Africa, and Latin America. It focuses on enhancing the capacities of these entities to ensure dignified living and sustainable development for disadvantaged populations.

MZ

Mreža znanja (Knowledge Network, MZ) is a Zagreb-based SME with extensive experience in strategic consultancy for local and national authorities, as well as private sector stakeholders. The company plays an important role in promoting sustainable development through EU co-funded projects and provides expert services such as feasibility studies with cost-benefit analyses (CBA), background analyses, mapping exercises, and foresight studies. MZ’s core areas of expertise include health, environment and climate change, circular economy, science and education.

PCR

Porto Conte Research (PCR) promotes innovation and sustainability in aquaculture through participation in regional and national projects, such as the AGER Fine Feed for Fish (4F) project, which explores alternative protein sources for farmed fish. In addition to research, PCR provides consulting and analytical services to local companies and feed industries, supporting fish metabolism and welfare studies. It also organizes stakeholder-focused training events, including several Summer Schools, fostering knowledge exchange and collaboration across academic, governmental, and industrial sectors to advance sustainable aquaculture.

UT

The University of Tirana (UT) was founded in 1957 and it is the first university established in Albania. It is comprised by 6 Faculties, one of which is the Faculty of Natural Sciences (FNS). Departments of Chemistry and Biology have a long-term experience regarding the environmental pollution assessment, monitoring and analysis, providing a wide range of environmental data published in different scientific journals.

KFM

Kito Marine Farm SA (KFM), founded in 1985, is one of the first registered aquaculture enterprises in Greece. Based on Leros Island, KMF has long collaborated with STAMATIOU S.A., the country’s leading aquaculture equipment manufacturer, by testing nets, cages, and feeding systems before their market launch. The company has also contributed to efforts in developing eco-friendly aquaculture net solutions.
